now that there is a juniors race @ 5:30, can we restrict them in the 4/5 race. or at least pull them when they get lapped. they do not need to be in the way for the preem's or sprint finish.

I agree, now that there is a juniors specific race for the little guys, they should not roll with the big guys. We averaged almost 26 mph last week in the 4/5's and that will only lead to disaster if a kid gets tangled up

First off, let's get it right lest you encourage people to show up at the wrong time. The Juniors race is at 5:00.

There's no rule that allows us to keep juniors out of the 4/5 race. If we start pulling lapped juniors we're going to have to start pulling everyone that is getting lapped so think about that before you push the issue.

Ultimately you need to talk to the chief ref Sean McNeal this week about this as I don't have any authority in this regard. I've emailed him and asked him to start the 4/5 race this week so you can all have a chat about concerns and what not.

Best,
Willis

I'm a Junior racer who likes to race the 4/5's. I have raced in more than 60 USACycling sanctioned races, and I can hang with the main 4/5 peloton at the Driveway. Why can't I race with the "big guys"?

Don't worry about it. There's no rule that can keep you from riding in the race.

Well Junior "Big Guy" maybe you can hang, but I saw two San Jose Juniors who ride the 4/5 come within 50 meters of getting lapped by three 14 year olds at the State Championship this past Saturday. If they cannot hang with 14 year olds, how can they hang with 30 year olds. It is only a safety issue for all the riders that is the concern.
